Tokenized Real-World Assets Surge to $32 Billion

By June 2026, the on-chain value of tokenized real-world assets (RWA) reached $32.22 billion — nearly tripling over the year from $11.8 billion, with the number of holders climbing to 937,928 people (+13% month over month), Cryptonomist reports.

Market breakdown: tokenized US Treasuries are the largest category at around $15 billion, followed by private credit at $6.2 billion, tokenized commodities (mostly gold) at $4.7 billion, equities and ETFs at $2.19 billion, and real estate at $202.7 million. Among individual products, BlackRock's BUIDL fund stands out (over $2.9 billion, running across 8 blockchains), alongside Franklin Templeton's BENJI ($2.44 billion) and Circle's USYC ($3.1 billion).

Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, describes what's happening this way: "This is the unlock we've been working toward: bringing the trust of traditional finance to the speed and openness of DeFi." Ian De Bode, president of Ondo Finance (a $3.7 billion portfolio, roughly 60% of the tokenized equities market), adds: "We're rapidly approaching an investment experience that frankly outperforms traditional brokerage accounts."

The regulatory backdrop is falling into place too: in May 2026, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) launched a tokenized securities trading pilot with more than 50 financial firms, including BlackRock, Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan, with a possible commercial launch as soon as October 2026. In March 2026, the SEC approved Nasdaq's proposal to allow certain stocks to trade and settle via tokens.

The upshot: RWA growth isn't being driven by retail speculators chasing the next meme coin — it's the world's largest financial institutions, and that changes the actual nature of demand for blockchain infrastructure, making it less tied to crypto-market sentiment and more anchored to traditional finance cycles.
