Bitcoin near $66,000: trading volume jumps 28% as ETF inflows hit a sixth straight day
Bitcoin is holding near $66,000, its highest level in more than a month. Market activity has picked up alongside the price: trading volume over the past 24 hours jumped 28% to nearly $30 billion, signaling genuine — not lackluster — interest in the current move.
Institutional Demand: a Sixth Straight Day of Inflows
US spot bitcoin ETFs have now logged a sixth consecutive session of net inflows — the latest trading day brought in $203.14 million, with more than 80% of that ($163.89 million) coming from BlackRock's IBIT alone. Over the preceding five sessions in this streak, bitcoin ETFs pulled in roughly $727.3 million combined — the longest inflow run since early May. Total bitcoin ETF assets topped $80 billion for the first time. Meanwhile, ethereum, XRP, and solana funds drew another $48.96 million combined — institutional interest isn't all concentrated in bitcoin alone.
Technically, a Cautiously Bullish Setup
The daily chart looks moderately positive: the MACD histogram is expanding into positive territory at +267.79, and RSI sits above 50, at 52.52. That said, price remains well below the 200-day moving average of $74,405, meaning the broader trend technically remains bearish. The nearest resistance sits in the $67,000-68,000 zone, which the market hasn't managed to clear yet; support below comes from the 20-day EMA at $63,705 — losing it could open the path lower.
Sentiment Stays Cautious
The Fear & Greed Index is stuck at 29 — fear territory — despite the rising price and volume. That gap between positive price action and cautious sentiment is typical of a phase where the rally is being met with skepticism rather than euphoria. Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) continues to provide a demand floor of sorts, holding a $3 billion reserve and continuing to accumulate bitcoin.
