Bitget Registers as a New Zealand Financial Services Provider
Bitget registered as a Financial Services Provider on New Zealand's Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR) on July 23 — a step that expands the exchange's compliance infrastructure as it pushes beyond crypto into stocks and tokenized assets, according to the official press release.
- The registration covers foreign currency exchange, domestic and cross-border money transfers, client asset custody, portfolio and money management, and executing financial product transactions on clients' behalf.
- Bitget also joined New Zealand's Insurance and Financial Services Ombudsman (IFSO) dispute resolution scheme, giving customers an external channel to resolve complaints.
- FSPR registration on its own doesn't amount to an endorsement or guarantee from the New Zealand government or its Financial Markets Authority (FMA).
Financial platforms need compliance structures that can support a wider mix of assets and services.
The registration fits the pattern of the past month: earlier in July, Bitget's research arm turned up in our coverage analyzing bitcoin's real price drivers, and the exchange then launched U.S. stock options and tokenized equities under the Stocks 2.0 brand — the regulatory registration is running in parallel with that push beyond crypto.
