July Crypto Fundraising: Over $5B Raised, Venture Leads the Pack, and Strategy Bought Zero Bitcoin All Month

According to Incrypted, crypto and Web3 projects raised more than $5.17 billion across 59 deals in July 2026, though only 38 disclosed the amount. Venture rounds accounted for the largest share of that volume — still the industry's main source of capital, even with notable M&A and corporate-placement activity alongside it.

  • Greylock Partners closed $1.5 billion for its 18th fund, focused on early-stage AI startups
  • Paradigm launched its fourth fund at $1.2 billion
  • Crypto.com raised $400 million from Citadel Securities at a $20 billion valuation — its first institutional round since launch
  • Investor attention concentrated on infrastructure, CeFi, DeFi, and blockchain-AI crossover projects

The month's odder subplot belongs to Strategy itself. The largest corporate bitcoin holder barely added to its coin reserves all July, instead selling ordinary MSTR shares across several consecutive weeks: $466.7 million from July 6-12 (pushing its USD reserve to $3 billion), another $225 million from July 13-19 (reserve at $3.225 billion), and a further $263.5 million reported later in the month. That's roughly a billion dollars raised over the month — none of which went toward buying bitcoin, a sharp reversal from its usual playbook. A similar capital rotation was playing out in the market itself in July: bitcoin and ethereum outperformed every major asset class as money moved out of overheated tech stocks. A full breakdown of the month's fundraising is available via Incrypted.
