Nvidia to Invest $1B in South Korea's Naver for AI Infrastructure

Nvidia is investing about $1 billion in South Korea's Naver, buying 7.2 million newly issued shares at 204,500 won ($139.45) each — roughly a 1% discount to Friday's closing price, Benzinga reports. The announcement came during South Korean President Lee Jae Myung's visit to the AI Summit in San Francisco on July 24.

  • The money will expand the GAK Sejong AI data center in Sejong from its current 55MW to 200MW by 2028, with a long-term target of 1 gigawatt.
  • Nvidia is acting as GPU supplier (Vera Rubin and Blackwell architectures), not as a revenue-sharing partner.
  • Brookfield Asset Management has signed a non-binding term sheet to fund up to $9 billion more for the broader project.
  • Nvidia's $1 billion investment is conditional on Naver securing at least $9 billion in separate committed financing.

AI factories are the infrastructure nations need to compete and innovate in the intelligence era.

The deal expands a partnership first announced in June 2025 that also includes SK Hynix, SK Telecom, and Doosan — this is Nvidia systematically building out its presence in South Korea's AI infrastructure, not a one-off deal. It's part of the same broader pattern as Nvidia's talks to guarantee $500 billion in financing for OpenAI's Ohio data center — the company is simultaneously acting as chip supplier and financial backer for the biggest AI infrastructure projects on multiple continents at once.
