Robinhood's RWA transfer volume jumps 3,201% in a month
Robinhood Chain's real-world-asset transfer volume jumped 3,201% over the past month, U.Today reported, climbing from roughly $800 million in late July to $1.65 billion by August 10.
The jump looks dramatic mostly because of where it started. Robinhood Chain, the company's own Ethereum layer-2 network, went live on July 1 with close to zero prior transfer volume, so early growth shows up as an outsized percentage almost by construction. A separate live tracker from RWA.xyz puts the same 30-day change at 2,741%, with monthly transfer volume around $1.67 billion across roughly 1,900 tokenized assets. The gap between the two figures comes down to which exact dates each source measured from, not a contradiction.
Tokenized stocks are doing most of the work. Tokenized GameStop shares have traded as much as $26.6 million a day, tokenized Nvidia around $14 million, and tokenized SpaceX about $6.4 million, with a token tracking the Nasdaq-100, QQQB, responsible for the bulk of July's tokenized-stock volume. The activity has made Robinhood Chain the largest real-world-asset platform by holder count, with more than 328,000 wallets holding a tokenized asset, ahead of Solana's roughly 312,000.
The dollar value tells a smaller story, though. Robinhood's real-world-asset market sits around $70 million to $110 million, a fraction of Ethereum's $17.2 billion share of the roughly $33.5 billion total tokenized RWA market. Broader activity on Robinhood Chain has also cooled since its memecoin-fueled launch: The Block reported daily DEX volume down 27% week over week to $553 million and active accounts down 7% to about 275,000 as of late July, with total value locked still climbing but mostly from yield-seeking deposits rather than active trading. Tokenized stocks themselves make up only about 10% of the chain's overall DEX volume, with memecoins and stablecoins still dominating.
The RWA numbers also arrive alongside a wider international push. Robinhood recently rolled out crypto trading in the UK through its acquisition of Bitstamp, extending commission-free trading to a market it had largely sat out of, and the company continues to frame both moves, tokenized assets at home and crypto access abroad, as part of the same strategy: compete with exchanges on price and reach while building a proprietary rail for the assets it lists. Whether that translates into durable trading demand, rather than a temporary spike tied to a handful of popular tickers, remains the open question the next few monthly readings will help answer.
- RWA transfer volume rose from about $800M to $1.65B in a month, per U.Today; RWA.xyz shows +2,741% over 30 days
- Tokenized GameStop, Nvidia, SpaceX, and a Nasdaq-100 token drive most of the volume
- Robinhood Chain leads by RWA holder count (328,000+) but holds a small fraction of total RWA value versus Ethereum and Solana
- Broader chain activity cooled in late July: DEX volume down 27% week over week, active accounts down 7%
We've tracked Robinhood Chain's uneven growth since its early weeks: back in mid-July, Robinhood Chain cracked the top 5 by DEX volume, but memecoins, not tokenized stocks, were driving most of that trading, and its total value locked neared $500 million in just three weeks largely on the back of a handful of large deposits rather than broad organic demand.
