Bitcoin at a crossroads: $62,000 decides the path to $73,000 or $49,000
Bitcoin's technical picture right now comes down to a single fork in the road: price is still trading near the most important short-term support around $62,000. As long as that level holds, the market keeps a solid shot at a recovery toward the psychological resistance at $70,000, with a possible move to $73,000.
- Key support: $62,000 — while price holds above it, the recovery scenario stays intact
- Decision zone: $70,000-$73,000 — where several strong resistance levels converge
- Bearish scenario if that zone holds firm: a decline toward $49,000
- Bullish confirmation: a decisive daily close above $73,000
The $70,000-$73,000 range looks like the real decision point for BTC/USDT's next move — several strong resistance levels converge there, and how price reacts on approach will likely set the direction of the next major swing. If Bitcoin can't convincingly clear that area, the bearish structure stays intact, and a deeper negative scenario remains on the table — a decline toward $49,000, a level flagged as the next downside target quite a while ago.
On the other hand, a decisive daily breakout above $73,000 would significantly weaken the bearish case and would most likely confirm the continuation of the long-term uptrend. A similar fork shows up in Bitbanker analyst Andrey Poroshin's own call, which sees a dip toward the $60,000-$62,000 zone in August followed by a recovery to $70,000.
The recovery scenario stays valid for now, but on one condition: Bitcoin has to hold the $62,000 support. We covered how that exact level has kept price boxed into a narrow range for the past day, amid ETF outflows and a hawkish Fed decision — and a decisive daily close below $62,000 would shift the odds back toward further downside.
For now, both halves of the setup are technically on equal footing: the market is sitting right on one line on the chart, and which side it breaks toward will shape the move for weeks ahead, not just the next session.
