Bitdeer's bitcoin production jumped 388% in a year — thanks to chips it designs itself

Bitdeer Technologies Group published its June 2026 operating update, reporting 990 BTC mined during the month — up 388% year-over-year. The company also expanded its self-mining hashrate to 73.0 EH/s.

Betting on In-House Chips

The key thing setting Bitdeer apart from most public miners is that it remains the only publicly listed bitcoin miner that designs and manufactures its own ASIC chips, rather than relying on off-the-shelf hardware from Bitmain or MicroBT. This is the result of a multi-year semiconductor R&D program that produced the SEAL chip line powering the Sealminer product family.

In April 2026, the company unveiled the SEALMINER A4 model, achieving 9.45 joules per terahash — among the best efficiency figures in the industry, and a notable improvement over the previous A3 series' 12.5 J/TH. Higher energy efficiency directly lowers miners' costs at a time of compressed post-halving margins.

Expanding Manufacturing

Bitdeer announced the groundbreaking of a new Sealminer manufacturing facility in Sparks, Nevada, with completion targeted by the end of 2026. The move deepens the company's vertical integration — from chip design all the way to mining bitcoin on its own hardware.

AI as a Second Revenue Stream

Separately, the company reported that annual recurring revenue (ARR) for its Bitdeer AI Cloud business reached approximately $76 million, confirming strong demand for its infrastructure for computing workloads beyond bitcoin mining.

Why It Matters

Bitdeer's story illustrates an alternative path to competing in the mining industry: instead of simply scaling purchases of third-party hardware, the company is betting on controlling the entire chain — from silicon design to farm operations — while simultaneously building a parallel AI business on the same infrastructure. Growing production 388% year-over-year amid industry-wide post-halving margin pressure underscores that vertical integration and in-house chip efficiency remain a meaningful competitive edge.
