Ethereum ETFs Beat Bitcoin on Inflows for a Third Straight Week

Spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs closed the week of July 20-24 with a third straight week of positive net inflows — but the results diverged sharply: Ethereum funds pulled in $103.9 million, nearly three times Bitcoin ETFs' $33.8 million, The Block reports.

  • Bitcoin ETFs: $33.8 million in net inflows for the week; weekly trading volume fell to $8.05 billion — the lowest for a full five-day week since October 2024 (-14% from the prior week).
  • Ethereum ETFs: $103.9 million in net inflows — the category's third straight positive week.
  • Over three weeks, Ethereum ETFs pulled in $293.8 million — nearly matching Bitcoin ETFs' $306.9 million — while holding just $10.17 billion in assets under management versus Bitcoin funds' $77.82 billion, roughly an eighth as much.
  • Thursday and Friday dragged down Bitcoin ETFs' weekly result: $465.3 million in outflows over the two days ($225.1 million Thursday, $240.08 million Friday) — right after a seven-day inflow streak that had brought in nearly $1 billion.

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led Friday's outflow at $212.2 million, with Fidelity's FBTC losing $27.9 million, CryptoTimes notes. None of the available sources include analyst commentary on the divergence between the two assets — the reporting is limited to the flow numbers themselves.

The relative efficiency here is the real story: Ethereum ETFs, on a fraction of the asset base, have nearly caught up to Bitcoin ETFs on raw three-week inflows — we separately covered Friday's $70.62 million ETH ETF outflow earlier today, and before that bitcoin's bounce back to $65,000 ahead of the Fed meeting. These are two sides of the same picture: institutional interest in both assets is holding up, it's just being redistributed unevenly.
