Meta Launches Seller, a Standalone App for Facebook Marketplace Sellers
Meta has launched Seller, a standalone mobile app for Facebook Marketplace sellers, announced by Head of Facebook Tom Alison on July 24, 2026. It's live on the App Store for US users 18 and older, with Android and web versions still in testing, according to Investing.com.
- AI-generated listings — Meta AI writes a title, description, category, and suggested price from a photo of the item; a bulk mode creates several listings at once.
- Inventory management — every listing lives in one place instead of scattered across the broader Facebook app.
- Unified buyer chat — messages are grouped by item rather than split across separate threads.
- Dashboard — the home screen surfaces what needs attention: packages to ship, buyers waiting on a reply, listings that could use a price cut.
Marketplace turns 10 this year and now hosts roughly 430 million listings a month worldwide. Seller is aimed squarely at the platform's most active sellers — the ones for whom Marketplace has quietly become a small, ongoing business rather than a one-off way to clear out a closet.
What the app doesn't have is any crypto functionality at all: no stablecoin checkout, no onchain escrow for high-value sales, no token-based seller reputation — nothing, CryptoBriefing points out. The outlet ties that caution back to Meta's own failed stablecoin project, Diem (formerly Libra), which the company shut down in early 2022 after years of regulatory pushback.
It's a striking contrast: one of the world's largest peer-to-peer marketplaces is wiring AI into every step of the selling process, while steering clear of crypto rails entirely — even in the one product where instant, cheap cross-border payments would genuinely solve real problems for buyers and sellers.
Nothing here should be taken as financial advice — just information to consider.
