Crypto markets priced AI giants — the companies are still tallying the cost
Crypto markets and AI giants are converging from two directions at once: traders are already willing to price companies like Anthropic on tokenized shares before any IPO, while the AI companies themselves are learning, the hard way, what the race they signed up for actually costs.
Crypto markets already set a price
The clearest example: crypto traders priced Anthropic at $1.6 trillion on tokenized shares trading on crypto exchanges — even as the company itself calls those tokens unrelated to its real equity and legally worthless. The gap between what the market is willing to pay and what officially exists is already a story on its own.
Meanwhile, the companies are tallying the real cost of the race
At Meta, it looks like this: Mark Zuckerberg's company is spending roughly $140 billion a year on AI infrastructure — a sum comparable to a small country's budget, and just one in a series of massive bets across the company's history.
“That's a very technical question.”

The cost of that bet shows up elsewhere too: Zuckerberg is promising every user a personal AI agent at the exact moment Meta's free cash flow has collapsed 91% — future promises are getting louder just as current financial results get shakier.
And inside the company, the cost of this transformation has already turned into conflict: Meta employees are suing over layoffs carried out with the help of AI assistants — another sign that the shift to AI costs more than money, it costs internal trust too.
The overall picture is split in two: the market is already voting with its money for a future where AI companies are worth trillions, while the companies themselves are only starting to count what the road to that future actually costs — in dollars, in cash flow, and in relationships with their own employees.
